At the plenary presided over by the @SpeakerGbaja of the @HouseNGR, Rep. @femigbaja, the House reconsidered its position on three bills rejected during the Constitutional amendment voting last week. The three bills are those on citizenship (men married to Nigerian women can apply for Nigeria's citizenship); indigene-ship (women can become indigenes of their state of marriage after a specified period); and 35% affirmative action for women in political party administration.

Constitution Review: @HouseNGR rescinds decisons on three women-related bills for re-consideration. They are the bills on citizenship, indigenship and 35% affirmative action for women. The bills failed to secure the mandatory two-thirds votes to pass during voting on the proposed amendments to the constitution.

Electricity: House urges FG to halt planned tariff increase in June

The @HouseNGR has urged the @NigeriaGov to ask the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (@NERCNG) to suspend a fresh increase in electricity tariff proposed to take off next month. It said the majority of Nigerians could not afford the additional burden of a fresh tariff hike amid the hardship they already faced.
