Alongside my brothers, the governors of the other South-South states, I have been monitoring the crisis in the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) that has taken front and center stage in the national news. After due consultations with the other governors, the South-South Governors Forum wishes to categorically state that we wholeheartedly support the forensic audit of the NDDC as ordered by His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari.

Effective, Thursday, 30th April, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by the Delta State Public Health Law; the Quarantine Act; and the Infectious Diseases (Emergency Prevention) Regulation, all citizens and residents of Delta State are to adhere to the following guidelines: 1. It shall be mandatory for all residents of Delta State to utilise face-masks in public places. ‘Public places’ include offices, markets, malls, supermarkets, salons, hospitals and health clinics, churches, mosques, and all other ‘approved’ gatherings.

A few minutes ago, at my third broadcast to the citizens and residents of Delta State on #COVIDー19, I announced that after marathon meetings with the Central Committee on Managing/Containing the Coronavirus Pandemic, we have made several far-reaching decisions. 1. From Friday evening at 6pm, Asaba Airport will be closed to traffic.
2. At 6am on Sunday, March 29th, all land borders into and out of Delta State are to be shut.

This is why, as a precautionary measure, in the last 72 hours, the Delta State Government has acquired 19 new ventilators and a good number of monitors that will be used by our medical staff in the event of an outbreak.
