1/6 At my @RTBF interview today @lapremiere I was asked by @tgadisseux “why does Israel block humanitarian convoys to Gaza?”

I, of course, said we don’t, and promised to put more info on my X account today

As I am a woman of my word, I’ll take a break from Lebanon issues to present this short 🧵 2/6 🧵First the numbers.

More than a million tons is aid entered Gaza. More than 51,000 trucks. Percentage of trucks declined-
0.009%

Reasons for denial- aid that is not humanitarian (like cigarettes) or can be of dual use as weapons (like metal bars). Food is not denied.

UN does not count in its data private market imports that account for most of the good entering Gaza.Image

1/4 UNRWA- It’s not a bug, it’s a feature.

The current UNRWA scandal (and the ones beforeit ) are not "bad apples".

The truth should be told- UNRWA can never live up to UN standards as it is not really a UN body.

let me explain👇👇

2/4 So what is #UNRWA ?
It is NOT a refugees organization.
UNRWA unlike UNHCR is not mandated to solve the refugee problem, just to maintain it.

UNHCR the UN refugee organization helps every refugee in the world but Palestinians. UNRWA has a unique tailor made, open ended definition of refugee status that automatically transfers through generations and does not expire if the person gets citizenship anywhere else.Image

Allow me, dear federal MPs to show you part two of the exhibition, let’s call it “No way to turn your child into a murderer”- follow this 2/7 The Palestinians systematically use children for #terror and are proud of it. Some examples of the “child play” of Palestinian youth: the #Fogel family, father, mother and 3 children aged 11, 4 and 3 months old baby, murdered in her sleep at home, by a Palestinian minor
