I have to say I find the emphasis that the Metropolitan Police are putting on Couzens being an “ex” police officer pretty sickening. He was a police officer when he murdered Sarah Everard. More than that, he used that as a key part of his crime. There’s this, for one thing, using the word “former”. It’s a kind of spin that political spinners would veer away from because it is grim

This is a good thread. I personally found the prospect of counselling rather daunting, largely due to stereotypes, but got to the point where neither I nor my wonderful friends could fix the stuff in my head alone My counsellor was great: no-nonsense and very empathetic while also capable of telling me when I was being unreasonable. Counselling isn’t just about being told that yes, everyone is being too mean to you.

It is possible for all these things to be true at once:
1. You can be a political activist and still be right about stuff - the hospital admitted there was inadequate cover. He is entitled to be as angry as any of us would be about our kid’s care. 2. You would all be going spare if the guy had been a Tory activist confronting a Labour leader and this wasn’t acknowledged. Doesn’t make his point at all invalid. May actually underline to many people why they vote Labour.

Just realised it is #mentalhealthawarenessweek2019 (loooong hashtag). It’s also pretty much bang on three years to the day that my suicidal thoughts and crippling paranoia became so evidently bad that a friend insisted I go to the doctor and ask for help. I also *think* that this is the week when I finish writing my second book, which is on mental health and the great outdoors. Lots of synchronicity there, not all of it particularly nice.

I think I can now confidently say it is a stupid idea to get an electric car. Thanks to @ecotricity’s complete casual failure to maintain their network of charging points, I’m now stranded and unable to get to where I’m supposed to be. @ecotricity Charge points out of order at not one but two service stations on my route, meaning I have no battery to continue. Guy on the @ecotricity helpline suggested that I try to plug the car in through a window, which would take five hours to reach a full charge.

In past week I've had men on Twitter telling me I don't look well enough for TV, how I *should* treat depression and that I shouldn't swear I do realise it's #notallmen but there's still #ahelluvalottamen who think they have some claim on how a woman they've never met should be
