A thread🧵. In college, we spent nights in libraries while friends spent nights in bars.

My husband and I live in the same house.

But we don’t live in the same world.

We don’t live in the same world because my world sees me with my fair skin and green eyes and treats me differently than how his world treats him with his brown skin and brown eyes.

I was recently asked to give advice for a soon-to-be-mom.

I thought about the "remember to bring fingernail clippers to the hospital" and "add a portable carpet cleaner to your baby registry" sorts of things.

But, instead.

The best advice I can provide.

Is a reminder.

(1) Look no further for the best mom to your child than the face you see in the mirror.

No one loves your child more.

When you are tired, when they are angry, when you are angry, when you doubt your decisions.
