Thread on @NBUkraine & @PrivatBankua: Largest 🇺🇦 bank, will face former owner, the oligarch Ihor Kolomoisky, in #Ukraine appeal court tomorrow to try and reverse controversial ruling that 2016 nationalization was illegal. Kolomoisky either wants bank returned, or compensation.
Let's recap what we know and why it matters: Bank was nationalized with a $5.5 billion gap in its books. It was a Ponzi-like pyramid scheme of related party lending... corporate loan portfolio was 100% NPLs, according to NBU, MinFin and auditors. IMF supported a state takeover.

$5 billion would be roughly total amount of U.S. aid to Ukraine since its 1992 independence, about $3 billion of that through @USAID. So is @RudyGiuliani alleging that ALL of the U.S. aid to #Ukraine has been misused? And how would Biden and Obama have been responsible?
@USAID@RudyGiuliani This comes from the Lawmaker and KGB academy graduate, new pal of @RudyGiuliani, Mr. A. Derkach. He wrote on Dec. 5 Ukraine has total 390 projects of international technical assistance worth $5.3 bn. Even if accurate, it is total, not all U.S. funds. Ukraine has other partners.
