Today, Shadow Chancellor @johnmcdonnellMP made a series of statements about @UKLabour’s record on antisemitism which are patently untrue. It’s important politicians tell the truth, so we’re setting out why he needs to retract his remarks [1/6] The Labour Party are not “doing everything [we] asked of us”. Following the Enough is Enough protests in Parliament Square, Labour has failed to meet the asks set out by @BoardofDeputies @JLC_uk @CST_UK and @JewishLabour [2/6]

STATEMENT: Margaret Hodge has been a steadfast campaigner against racism, fascism and intolerance throughout her political life. She saw off the BNP in Barking, and has over the last few years been determined in her opposition to antisemitism within the Labour Party... 1/5 This is a shameful moment for a Party which claims to embody the values of equality and diversity. She has been the target of vicious smears, derision and antisemitism, because she has been resolute in her opposition to anti-Jewish racism... 2/5

THREAD: We receive huge volumes of abuse, across all social media platforms. Today, we wanted to share just a tiny proportion of what we receive.

*warning: distressing content* (1/6) One of the key categories of abuse is the use of classic antisemitic terminology, including 'yid', 'kike' and 'zio' (2/6)

Thread: We are happy to announce that we have retained James Libson & his team at Mishcon de Reya to assist us in pursuing our case with the EHRC. James Libson was part of the team that successfully defended Professor Deborah Lipstadt against Holocaust Denier David Irving. 2. Yesterday's announcement by the Equalities and Human Rights Commission shows clearly that the Labour Party has a case to answer against the charge that it has become institutionally racist. This is a significant moment.

The Labour leadership have allowed a culture of antisemitism, obfuscation and denial to take hold of the Party. Our National Secretary @_petermason sets out why @tom_watson is right to get involved A year after the #Dayenu #EnoughIsEnough protests in Parliament Square, the Party have failed to meet the six tests set out by @BoardofDeputies @JLC_uk & @CST_UK and the 19 by us.

Thread & correction: After a week of pain and hurt, in which Jewish Labour Party members have either resigned from the Party or have seriously considered their positions, we are deeply disappointed to have heard nothing from the Labour Party Leadership until this evening. /1 At 6:02pm, two minutes after the meeting of the Parliamentary Labour Party began, a meeting in which the Leader claimed to have reached out to the Jewish Labour Movement, an email was received in the personal account of one of our officers. /2

Last Friday, JLM, @UKLabour’s Jewish affiliate since 1920, asked every candidate for the NEC their views on the IHRA definition of antisemitism. We do not endorse any slate & our measures against @PeterWillsman were due to the extraordinary nature of his attack on British Jewry @UKLabour @PeterWillsman Allowing Jews to define their own prejudice is a matter of principle. We advocate a vote for any candidate who takes this principled anti-racist stand & supports Labour immediately adopting the full & unamended IHRA definition of antisemitism in full, including all the examples.
