Vishwanath was crowned as the fourth ruler of Nandapur principality, succeeding his father, Rajah Bhairav Dev in 1527.

THREAD 🪡 Vishwanath’s predecessors were vassal chiefs or ‘Bhupati’ under the Gajapati kings. They maintained the title of ‘Raja’ and assisted the Gajapatis in several military adventures.

In a young age, he saw his father, Bhairav Dev participating in the defence of the Kondapalli fort.

The Golconda Sultans began occupying the coastal Andhra territories of the Nandapur kingdom during the reign of Maharajah Balaram Dev (1571-1597)

At first Balaram Dev battled Mir Zainulabdeen with an army of 5000 cavalry-30,000 infantry. The King was defeated & fled to his fort. Balaram Dev led an army with Harichandran Bahubalendra of Krishnakotta of 2000 cavalry, 30,000 infantry and 100 elephants to fight Chungiz Khan, the commander of Golconda army of 5000 horse and 10,000 infantry.
The battle started in the centre of an inaccessible valley.

Raja Bhairav Dev being the only son of Raja Vijaychandraksha was crowned as the king of Nandapur in 1510. He accepted the suzerainty of Gajapati Maharaja Prataprudra Dev & fought alongside him in the battle against Emperor Krishna Dev Raya of Vijayanagara Empire.
