[Who - Dance Analysis Thread]
Jimin’s new song Who is a certifiable HIT. He delivered not only powerhouse vocals but slick dance moves all throughout the MV.
Let’s take a closer look at some of my favourite parts!
#JIMIN #지민
#Jimin_Who #Jimin_MUSE
Let’s start with his signature pose, where he has full awareness of his body lines. Notice when he reaches up, how his weight settles onto the back hip, creating an angle at his waist. His left shoulder comes down at the same time, creating an opposite angle with his upper torso.
AHHHHH this Face-Off choreo is SO Jimin-coded!!! The fast-slow timing, the tension in his movements, his elegant hands and feet, and the way you can just FEEL the story he’s trying to tell with his body and expressions.
Let’s discuss!!
#JIMIN #지민
This fast-slow combo is deadly. It feels as though he’s incorporating both street style and contemporary techniques. His dimestops play a role - that ability to stop his entire body in the middle of a movement as if frozen.

Jimin has an incredible talent for tensing his whole body all at once, bringing it to a sudden stop as if someone just hit pause and caught him in a freeze frame. This is a street style technique known as a dimestop. #JIMIN#지민@BTS_twt
You might be familiar with this amazing set of stops Jimin hits in the middle of Black Swan. It takes a ridiculous amount of body control to tense everything to a stop each time. #JIMIN

#JIMIN always gives 100% for this part in Idol, but there’a a moment after the kick where he puts his arms down and looks to the side, as if he is completely relaxed, almost taking a break in the music as if it’s no big deal, while his legs are still moving. It’s phenomenal.
Jimin’s knees are bent, his shoulders slouched ever so slightly forward - he’s released all the tension from his body in this moment, in the middle one of the most high-octane parts of the choreo. The music is going FAST and he’s able to slow everything down for a split second.

[Dance Analysis Thread - Black Swan Duet MMA 2020]
This exquisite performance by Jimin and Jungkook was breathtaking. It required trust, strength, grace and above all teamwork. Let’s take a look at how all those elements combined to make art. #JIMIN#Jungkook#BlackSwan@BTS_twt
First of all, what an insane entrance! The cascade of falling dancers is so perfectly timed, not one off beat or out of place. The dancers settle into the misty waters...and then Jimin turns around with dramatic flair to start his dance. #JIMIN

[Dance Analysis Thread - Black Swan ON:E]
Incorporating both brand new moves and old favourites, Jimin choreographed a stirring solo number for the ON:E concert. Let’s take a closer look at Jimin’s interpretation of Black Swan. #JIMIN#지민@BTS_twt#JIMIN starts this piece by immediately sinking to the ground. Modern dance, and by extension contemporary, is characterized by its use of gravity. Ballet strives to lift up as much as possible, but modern plays with gravity, giving into it one minute & bouncing back up the next.

Oooooh a grand jeté?? 👀👀 #JIMIN#지민@BTS_twt
In ballet, there are several types of jumps. Probably the most basic is the temps levé, which is a jump from one foot that lands on the same foot while the other leg is raised in the air - typically in arabesque.

[Filter Dance Analysis Thread]
Whew. It’s time to talk about Filter, an electrifying solo number that Jimin brings alive through charisma, fancy footwork and a flurry of costume changes. Let’s break it down. #JIMIN#지민@BTS_twt
One thing to note right off the bat is how Jimin changes his performance ever so slightly from one night to the other. By emphasizing different moves, switching speeds and changing facial expressions, he’s able to show a different side of himself, or filter, each show. #JIMIN

[Black Swan Jimin Solo Dance Analysis]
So. Jimin did THAT. And we HAVE to talk about it. Let’s dive into the incredible solo dancing Jimin displayed in the Black Swan MV and how beautifully he pulled it off. #JIMIN#BlackSwanMV@BTS_twt
Let’s start this solo dance with #JIMIN flying through the air like the graceful swan he is. I will never get over how high he can jump and how, by kicking back his legs and keeping his upper body calm, he can make it look like he’s suspended in the air while he’s up there.

[Black Swan Jimin Dance Analysis Thread]
Black Swan is a hauntingly beautiful piece about the fear of losing one’s passion for something one used to love. The choreography is a beautiful complement to the song’s message and the group pulls it off wonderfully. #JIMIN@BTS_twt
Black Swan is an incredible ensemble piece that relies on absolute synchronicity between the group members. Even small moves become 10x more impactful when done at the exact same time. @BTS_twt

Popping is such an iconic part of Jimin’s dance repertoire, and something he learned even before contemporary. This thread will examine the dedication, strength and precision that goes into perfecting this technique. #JIMIN#지민 #MTVHottest BTS @BTS_twt
Popping is a technique that involves tensing and releasing your muscles so quickly that the shock reverberates through your body. In this example, he is flexing his forearm and wrist, causing his whole arm to “pop.”

Body waves vs body rolls: Did you know there was a difference? Did you know Jimin likes to torture us with both? And he’s really good at it? 😓
Warning: This thread is not for the faint of heart. #JIMIN@BTS_twt
Though their names are often used interchangeably (even by us 😅), body waves are quite different from body rolls. Both are techniques used in the Boogaloo street style and each are complex enough to be a specialized style on their own. #JIMIN@BTS_twt

What does freestyle vs choreography mean when it comes to a dancer like Jimin expressing himself on stage? How do the different mediums affect the message he conveys to the audience? #JIMIN@BTS_twt
When a dancer freestyles, the most important guide they have to their movements is the music. The dancer uses the music that is playing, interprets it and expresses it to the best of their ability with their body. #JIMIN@BTS_twt
