I must admit I'm finding the media debate about the #CostOfLivingCrisis a bit frustrating, so time for a short thread from me. While important, not having enough money isn't principally about missing meals etc. It's about disappearing protection against your life turning to sh*t
Money, a web of strong social connections, and experience of coping in adversity can help you survive when things go wrong. That's why benefits allow you to have savings - making you spend them on staying alive is much more likely to push you into a crisis in the long-term.

Day 2 of #JSWEC2021 just starting, chaired by @JoWarner01. Impressive panel including Baroness Hilary Armstrong, @MarkDrakeford & @JulieMorganLAB. Apparently representatives of other parties were approached but unavailable. Says something about #SocialWork, society & solidarity?
Hilary Armstrong talking about how her experience of violence in her career in #SocialWork (interestingly including #CommunityWork), led her to look at the social causes, and then into politics. Informed her later work with the Social Exclusion (later, Inclusion) Unit. #JSWEC2021
