Today is the anniversary of the Stonewall riots, the reason Pride is in June.

In 1969, it was illegal to wear clothes that were considered inappropriate for one's sex and when the police raided the Stonewall Inn's gay bar, they started to do a genital check (as was procedure). Some officers took this as an opportunity to grope some of the lesbian patrons and those waiting for checks refused to submit. They were arrested. Other patrons, waited outside and drew a crowd. When an escaping drag queen was hit on the head with a baton, the crowd began to riot

@DisabledStem First of all, thank you for being willing to accommodate your PhD student! That acceptance is honestly like 50% of what is needed. ADHD is tough. The balance between freedom and structure is a tough one to find. Personally, I needed to have more oversight than most when it came @DisabledStem To deadlines, thesis structure, and planning. Us ADHDers also tend to have really awesome ideas but tend to get excited and bite off more than we can chew. My old advisor was really good about reigning me in without killing my excitement.

I am officially no longer a graduate student. I was discriminated against because of my disability and forced to leave my program.
