We advocate for same-sex rights and stand against all homophobia, including sex erasure. Sharing someone's work is not an endorsement of the individual.

Gay rights legend & pioneer Fred Sargeant (74), one of the co-founders of the Gay Pride march in NYC and participant in Stonewall in 1969, was violently assaulted by trans rights activists at Burlington Pride this weekend. @LGBAlliance_USA condemns this unconscionable act.
[1/7] He says "I went to Pride to protest their misogyny, homophobia, exclusionary policies and divisiveness. I was met by screaming, multiple assaults, ageist comments, shoving, slaps to the back of my head, pouring coffee on me and repeated attempts to steal my signs." [2/7]

On July 12, 2022, the U.S. Department of Education formally released its proposed revisions to Title IX implementation and opened them for public comment. These changes would codify “gender identity” into law, rendering single-sex spaces illegal in any educational institution that receives federal funding. We encourage everyone to submit their opinions on the proposed rule changes by September 12, 2022.

Below we offer some of the most important points we focused on in our letter of opposition but it is extremely important that

This Pride month, we invite LGB people to stand up for same-sex rights and community amid both new and old forms of homophobia, rainbow capitalism, and homosexual erasure in the name of “inclusivity” and “queerness.” Image Pride has a long history of political & social activism. In honor of tradition, as well as progress & growth, we invite you to speak up & make your voice heard. Let's put a stop to the homophobia & self-hate coming from within our own community.

A statement about #DontSayGay (a thread).

The legislation in Florida known as the "Don't Say Gay" bill is not really about same-sex orientation or same-sex rights. The bill aims to ensure schools will not be permitted to discuss "sexual orientation or gender identity" (1/7) below the third grade level. Since sex ed or sexuality in general is not currently discussed in these younger grades, the bill itself does not affect same-sex rights in schools; rather, it is clear this bill is primarily designed to prevent schools from (2/7)

"I would sneak into the bars of the Hotel Washington, from the scandalous Rod's to the upbeat New Bar. It was then that I first felt the joy of that community, but also first saw the schisms too. Yet we all wept when the Hotel burned down.

When will media outlets like @NPR stop being lazy & start doing their job?!

The #EqualityAct is a HUGE departure from the gains achieved in the SCOTUS Bostock ruling & there are meaningful objections to the Act that aren't religious!

"This act would explicitly enshrine those nondiscrimination protections into law for sexual orientation and gender identity, rather [...] 'sex.' However, the Equality Act would also substantially expand those protections." /2

Since @RepCicilline/@DavidCicilline introduced it, people ask us "Why is a group dedicated to LGB rights concerned about the Equality Act? What's not to like about a law that protects people from being discriminated against on the basis of sexual orientation?"

A thread! /1 There are some wonderful (and overdue!) things in the Equality Act that we welcome. Of course!

But while we applaud the parts of the Act that advance LGB rights, we feel that despite being well-meaning, the bill acts as a kind of Trojan Horse for homophobia and misogyny. /2

While we welcome the anti-discrimination protections for LGBT people, the Exec Order signed yesterday is egregiously broad & effectively ELIMINATES 'sex' as a protected class. #BidenErasedWomen with this far-reaching order, which will decimate women's sports, safety & privacy. Welcome to @LGBAlliance_USA!

We will be pursuing an agenda that is largely aligned with the agenda of the UK-based organization @AllianceLGB. The following is a brief description of our concerns: We are LGB: lesbians, gay men, and bisexuals living in the United States. We define ourselves in terms of same-sex sexual orientation. Sex, not “gender.”/1of12
