🚨Long thread alert🚨1/5 Glad to hear that all Windsor Police officers will carry naloxone. We’ve been pushing for this for years. The decision is being tied to the City run temporary shelter for people experiencing homelessness who are Covid+ Let’s talk about why words matter. 2/5 Tying the decision specifically to guests of a temp city run shelter for ppl experiencing homelessness, that will be policed by officers of various divisions, is stigmatizing. Ppl from all walks of life use drugs NOT just ppl experiencing homelessness.

🚨Long thread🚨How the hell has former Premier Mike Harris been appointed the Order of Ontario? An award for a person who "demonstrates excellence in any field or outstanding contributions to society in Ontario and elsewhere." You betcha I'm pissed and deeply disappointed. 1/5 Do outstanding contributions to self interest count?
✅Privatizing LTC as Premier. Chair of the board @ Chartwell raking in record profits as homes are consistently understaffed, mass Covid outbreaks & thousands of deaths happen in private, for profit homes, incl Chartwell.

1/👋Hello from 1 of the people that @ToddSmithPC referred to as "questioning this & spreading misinformation" with regard to whether or not students in group homes will be allowed to attend school IN PERSON.Throw shade Todd but the question remains. @Shawn_Jeffords #onpoli #ONDP 2/Days away from school year start yet students, families & agencies have NO clear direction from gov as to whether in person,in school learning is allowed for students living in group homes. I've seen the emails from agencies,I've received the calls,I've listened to the families.

I've been just as frustrated & dismayed by the lack of progress on this issue as anybody. Two young workers have lost their lives - countless others are sick. We need resources and support from our government. But the finger pointing & blame game is not helping. 1/6 #onpoli #yqg So what do we need to solve this?

"Mandatory" testing is unclear/problematic. Though the mayor acknowledges you can't force people to get tested, many will read it that way.

We need to be very specific about what exactly should be "mandatory" in order to resolve the issue. 2/6

I want to share some thoughts re: income assistance during the pandemic.

Focusing particularly on folks w disabilities (esp. recipients of ODSP & OW) and the failure of federal & provincial financial assistance programs to address their specific needs.

Here we go👇
1/10 #onpoli Tomorrow is April 6. A lot of folks who lost their jobs & income due to the pandemic have been anxiously awaiting this day.

It will be the first day ppl can apply for the federal government assistance program CERB, which will be a lifeline for many - but certainly not all.

Says the person responsible for $1 billion heartless cut to women & children fleeing domestic violence, child protection, social assistance, ppl with disabilities & family responsibility office as PCs waste about $1 billion on what the premier calls “freeing the beer.” @RealKiefer PCs spending more than the previous Liberal gov yet are slashing funding to healthcare, education, children’s services, domestic violence supports, the list goes on. How are they spending more while cutting vital public services you ask?
