While I applaud keeping everyone physically safe in healthcare settings, as a chronic illness patient who experiences sex, MH, & "body habitus" discrimination from doctors on a regular basis, I do have some concerns about this. CONT.
It is worse when the disabled person has developmental or intellectual disabilities.

This is Gottlieb's op-ed for the NYT, so take that into account.
But this is how prepared the U.S. is for smallpox:
"The United States had on handΒ fewer than 2,400 doses in mid-May, mostly as a hedge against the risk of smallpox, which was the vaccineβs other indication."

I thank all the gods my son graduated high school early in 2019. We got to see his final band, choir, theater, variety show performances. We got to go to graduation. HE got to go to graduation.
All of that is affected by masking.
@louisegable@diemondsRforeva@x3r0gxx@PattiDrebis@thesafestbear@midwestmargrave@Theresa_Chapple Theaters. Have you gone back to either movie or local community theaters? No popcorn, which isn't that big a hardship, but it is part of the experience. Often those old theaters have no AC. Let's add masks and see how many patrons don't come and how many close.

#NEISvoid I am trying to get our local backasswards medical corporation to set up my mother's patient portal correctly and they are insisting she needs to go somewhere in person to do it. Her next appts are all telehealth, because she's home recovering from a GI bleed. π§΅
Why is this shit so difficult!?! They set it up without connecting it to their organization, so no data has ever been added to her patient portal. 2 years of labs, visits, meds, etc.... Poof! You'd have to request them all on paper. π‘
We vaccinate people for things they aren't likely to face here (polio). We vaccinate with vaccines we know aren't solving the problem (pertussis & mumps)...
@Tierney4351@AdeleXHome@KimberlyMcKeeve@RHampton09@bubbaprog We vaccinate the WRONG PEOPLE for some things. Women of child-bearing age (but not pregnant at the time) should get rubella. Not kids who already get 3 million shots.
And some things just aren't that serious. They keep people out of work, which is why the gov't likes vaccines.
