The greatest tragedy of AI is that we lost the ability to just enjoy art the moment we lay eyes on it. For a brief half a second we have to double check, look for signs before we can really enjoy something and that used to be so free for us. We’ve lost that free spark of joy. I really think it’s one of the reasons I was so depressed last year. My whole world revolves around art and something so simple and yet powerful was taken from me and it absolutely wrecked me creatively and emotionally.

So Instagram is like officially dead for artists at this point, right? Back in 2018 it became obvious that FB was trying to change Instagram into FB 2.0 when engagement was suddenly turned off like a facet. Instead of capturing a new generation of users they squeezed the life out of the platform to sell ads the same way they ran FB into the ground.

If someone is saying you are guaranteed to get rich quickly that should have been your FIRST red flag.

I've watched a lot of artists grow on twitter and always noticed this sudden shift as they grew. They'd stop being as open and available and became much more defensive. It always made me sad to see it happen and now I know what it is, harassment. Something changed after I got harassed in Dec & it hit me today that it made me bitter & terrified. I was scared to share my thoughts & foster positive community because I was/am afraid that even the slightest disagreement could become days or weeks of angry comments or💀threats

Starting in next month I’m going to start making more personal art that I can actually show on Twitter and Patreon. I’m getting real tired of working endlessly under NDA and having nothing to show for it. Also given a recent scare about nifftys in ttrpgs I need to find a way to be financially stable on my own without a company paying my bills because I’m getting burnout for their bottom line, not mine.

A hashtag trending is not a “conspiracy” it’s just the twitter algorithm doing it’s job. I’ve seen multiple weird takes about CR “controlling twitter” and it’s like, with all due respect, I think you are blowing what little influence they have completely out of the water.

The “Matt Mercer Effect” for me has always been watching someone run a game so masterfully that it inspired me to finally DM my own game. In fact watching Matt made it less terrifying to jump in and run a game because I was able to see so many different scenarios and how someone might rule them, ways to add a little spice to the game other than rp and kill, and how to yes and my players.

Ngl the “it’s not fear mongering to act like WotC is announcing an NFT” takes are really pissing me off.

I thought that my lifelong dream was destroyed, that my livelihood was gone, that my career was cut short.

If you’re going to sound that alarm come with actual receipts. I know for some it’s as easy as saying “I won’t play again.
