Today is #BlackWomensEqualPay! Black women have to work until August 13, 2020, earn as much a White man earned in just 2019.

@CSanchezCumming and I dig into 5 ways to understand the persistent intersectional wage divide that Black women face. 1/9
equitablegrowth.org/five-ways-to-u… Research from @MarkVinPaul, Khaing Zaw, @DarrickHamilton and @SandyDarity shows that the wage divide faced by Black women is intersectional, meaning that it is unique, and more than the sum of gender and racial wage gaps. 2/9

A thread on gender, relationships, and economics: 1/12 Literally two weeks before my ex-husband unexpectedly walked out on me (it sucked!), I wrote this piece in @guardian about my decision to withdraw from the labor force (as a RA) and rely on his earnings to fund my living expenses while dissertating. theguardian.com/money/2014/aug… 2/12

With Labor Day this weekend, there is a growing call for more union power to balance wealthy corporate power. In the midst of all the campaign platforms and worker actions, I looked into the role of strikes in my latest for @equitablegrowth: equitablegrowth.org/the-once-and-f… 1/12 Research by @awh finds that support for unions has increased and workers specifically want collective bargaining and benefits like healthcare from unions. Workers tend to not like strikes, but support increases when paired with collective bargaining. 2/12
