This was actually his original plan. He wanted to make it so you could no longer be born a slave or sell anyone as a slave. It was his belief that slavery would die out in a generation. However, he found something else. 1/
Lincoln realized over time and seeing the true affects of slavery that it could not persist. That it was dangerous and wrong. This was costing lives and in fact it led to the deadliest war in American history. He eventually gave the Emancipation Proclamation.
