Thread time (SORRY!) I've been thinking about Chris Stanton, one of the individuals who was arrested for being involved in the Capital insurrection, who died by suicide. How does a - seemingly - regular guy throw his entire life away to help commit an act of terror? 1/? We need to address the rot that goes well beyond Trump. As someone who voted Republican back when these games started, I know their playbook by heart. I know they use fear to mobilize. I’m angry that so many Republicans will walk away from this with their career unscathed. 2/?

Some thoughts about reactions like this thread. The point of #NeverTrump was not a "we'll never have Trump as a President" movement, it was "My convictions will not allow me to ever support such an individual." It was about moral convictions, not just the 2016 vote. 1/ The reason I'm responding here is because I've seen quite a few #NeverTrump conservatives now claim that they will most likely vote for Trump (Erickson, Walsh, etc...), and it's being met by applause. 2/

This morning I was scrolling though Twitter and found a number of conservative pundits I once respected, and many who long ago lost all respect, peddling the theory that the issue in the Catholic Church is a homosexuality issue. So, a thread: (1/x) I was not sexually abused, but someone in my life was a victim of long-term abuse. So I knew about the stats, the treatment, the PTSD, the power dynamics, the counseling, and heard stories from survivors throughout my life. (2/x)

I get asked a lot how someone who claims to be pro-life can justify supporting/voting for Democrats/Independents (because that’s what I plan to do in November). So a short thread on that: 1/ First, my position: I’m pro-life, but I support helping women, not legislation. I was a part of the pro-life movement, was even on the BoD for a PCC, & that time on the “front lines” taught me that legislation isn’t the answer, & that the movement hasn’t earned their label. 2/
