MIDDLE EAST QUESTION OF THE DAY: Is Israel an an apartheid state? Is it a place in which Palestinian Arabs, blacks, Asians and people who are not Jewish live in a completely separate and officially unequal society like old South Africa? Or like Jim Crow America? Speaking from Israel I can say this personally … No. Absolutely not.
Israel is easily the most racially, culturally, religiously integrated and democratic society between Europe and Australia. Thomas Hand is right. Listen to his video . 1/7 In my 40 years living and working in the Middle East, North Africa and SouthWest Asia Israel is easily the most integrated & democratic society I’ve seen. There is certainly a Jewish majority but recall 80% of them are not from Europe (Ashkenazim) but ethnically cleansed emigres banished from the Muslim world (Mizrahi & Sephardic). It’s unfortunate, but it’s a fact. Also, Israel is a surprisingly brown country. Anywhere else most would be considered POC. It’s hard to tell Mizrahi Jews from local Palestinians, who are 20% of the population. They are the Palestinians who did not leave in 1948 & thrived here. 2/7

BUT many of you all live in a fantasy about what war really is all about. A very serious 🧵 Before the first shot was fired on 10-7 many believed ANY ACT Israel does in its defense is wrong. This belief is a mix of latent anti-semitism AND TBH because the IDF HAS committed observable crimes in the past. Overall its regular army is generally a very professional force.

I respect @esglaude opinion but the 10-7 slaughter cannot be sidelined.
It was not a “raid” it was HAMAS’s declaration of full scale war. They now have it. They will die in this war with nothing but rubble left behind . Not since the 1973 war has Israel had such death. But nothing before even come close to justification for this slaughter.

The 10-7 Massacre is the precipitating event that no nation would allow to pass without the eradication of the HAMAS terrorist group. They chose to be ISIS they will now be treated like ISIS.

I’ve seen a plan of similar scope & seriousness but sole source collection is not enough to go to war (unless it’s ridiculously obvious like this one) It must always be verified by fusing together all sources. Signals, human, Imagery, of our own and allies, even OSINT watching HAMAS bragging videos.

FATALLY FLAWED ARTICLE: This is where journos start with an assumption and make the narrative fit. Saying Ukraine has FEW combat experienced troops is ludicrous. They interviewed one commander & 2 anonymous soldiers to spell DOOM for the AFU. Bullshit. washingtonpost.com/world/2023/03/… I want to put some focus on a fact about Ukrainian casualties. Out of my 20 man platoon 100% have been injured. 90% were small shrapnel & they were back in operation in 2 weeks BUT the Ukrainian medevac system puts them in hospital to heal then 2 weeks convalescent leave.

CATASTROPHIC: 1st day after picture of Moskva listing port & settling down to sink. Explosions blew off all massive radar arrays & masts! Fires raging on mid ships missile deck & hole at waterline shows where NEPTUN struck. It went in hull THEN exploded. This ship will def roll. TOP PAIR radar is still present but this photo is not from day of attack. This is a dead ship being towed. All lifeboats & motor whale boats gone. How it held together & didn’t crack in half is a naval mystery.

My Assessment fm Kyiv: #UkraineCrisis if Putin wants to take this country by force. I would never intentionally disrespect my brothers & sisters in arms. My space was the STRIKE WARFARE on 03 Deck, a WW2 Battle bridge w/18” steel walls/doors aft of the 16” gun Mount 162. The Big Mo RQ-2 Pioneer Drone team asked me to help identify viable targets. TOP SECRET STORY TIME: #DesertStorm30 yrs ago today I endured my first of 3 actions in 100 hours. I was Cryptologic Intelligence Chief (forward) on USS Tripoli (LPH-10) sweeping Iraqi sea minefields for an amphib feint to make Saddam think we were invading Kuwait from the sea. We knew there were at least 1000 sea mines across the gulf. Tripoli had helicopters to sweep lanes to the Kuwait coast. When I went to bed on the 24th something made me put away my “abandon ship pack.”Personal photos, Candy bars, an ID card wrapped in waterproof plastic.

1. THREAD: 30 years ago I helped demolish the Iranian navy. Before that there were years of attacks on Iraq/GCC in Tanker war. Not til they covertly/indiscrim mined & damaged USS SB Roberts in 1988 did we attack. It wasn’t a light decision. We could prove acts beyond any doubt 2. IRGC are an asymmetric terror militia. THREAD: My thoughts on Paul Whelan’s Captivity. Many know I was a SERE instructor but I also taught a course on what to do when detained as a bargaining chip by Hostile Governments like Russia. Having studied material in press I don’t believe is Whelan is an Intel asset. This form of captivity is officially called Hostile Government Detention. No matter your status it’s designed to get a geopolitical bargaining chip, usually by false accusations of “spy” of American citz. Actual spies are handled differently and exchanged for opposition spies.
