When I was a young man in my 20s, with a young family, I was diagnosed with cancer (in #Alberta). Tests, surgery, and hyper aggressive chemo ensued. At that time I was off work for 4 months and was taking some of the most expensive drugs available. 1/ If I would've had to pay for this directly, I would've been bankrupt, hopeless and likely would've chose death so my family wouldn't be burdened. But I didn't have to make that choice, because I live in Canada, where we all share the provisions of healthcare. 2/

Dog pics aside here's a dose of reality.

My wife recently finished a 3 week streak in 2 AB hospitals. Through no fault of her own (healthy, athletic beautiful woman), she is now at home on 24hr IV for 4-6 wks trying to control an infection so she can have surgery. Being in the hospital that long was an eye opener. Shit's going down in there. For dear Leader @jkenney she's been deemed expendable.

For every HCW that helped her...she was not. She's a person that needed help. And that's what they did. And amazingly so.
