For those of you who don’t know the @CecilLammey - Russell Wilson story we have told in the past, here it is… a thread At the Senior Bowl, Russ wasn’t the marquee QB at the event from a draft media perspective. Cousins was seen as the sleeper. Russ was the short QB afterthought for most.

The most insidious thing that white supremacy did is take its racism and weave it through the pillars of our society: religion, education, justice, real estate and banking, national defense, and law enforcement. Their rhetoric is so good that if you attack the racism, you can be accused of attacking the pillars of our society.

Here are additional thoughts based on questions I received from the first three threads about U.S. racism and what we can do about it

I hope you'll find this helpful. Again, these are my thoughts based on my experiences. We all have much more to learn. "How do I convince..."

Whether it is family or friends, this is the essential question I get most often.

It's nice to have solidarity, joint causes, alignment with people you love, and enjoy associating with but the topic of justice and human rights is creating an impasse.

Based on feedback, questions and discussion from an earlier thread, here are some things that white people can do on an individual level to be more supportive and understanding of their black colleagues, friends, and folks they would like to have deeper bonds with. First, as you all know in the abstract but we often fail at in reality, people are individuals. What I am advising isn’t always applicable and best for every individual situation.

The best thing I can advise overall is listen, DON’T talk. Really listen.

Earlier, I wrote a thread about my experience becoming part of a black family and what I learned. You can find it here:

There's more I want to share. Racism is formative. It's taught--intentionally and unintentionally. I was born 50 years ago. Two years after the Civil Rights Act. My first memories of race-related subjects were seeing Bostonians, Clevelanders, and New Yorkers on TV protesting against the busing of black kids to white schools.

I was so young, I didn't understand.

Seeing some of my colleagues talk about what it's like being black in America--@DianteLee_ comes to mind prominently this afternoon, I'd like to offer a different perspective.

Being white, growing up in the north and south, and becoming part of a black family. What you learn. The first thing you learn is that no matter how open-minded, loving, and book-educated you are, you are not ready for what you'll experience once you become emotionally invested in the lives of people who are black.

Seeing, experiencing, and feeling it on a visceral level.

Matt Waldman's RSP NFL Lens #LaquonTreadwell Thread

Fit in the #Vikings offense and where there's opportunity for growth in 2018.

#skol #NFL #LaquonTreadwell isn't a speedster, but he's quick enough and he will work with his quarterback. Here's where his tape is a little more refined that a big guy like #KennyGolladay.
