It’s becoming increasingly clear that Americans approve of « Israel’s military action in Gaza » is driven by racial factors. Two out of three person of color in the US are opposing it, and two out of three white Americans are supporting it. College education doesn’t have an effect.
This has profound implications on the cross-racial interactions on this topic. White Americans’ use of institutional, discursive or physical violence against supporters of Palestinian will have to be read through the prism of racism more than anytime before. This requires a reevaluation of how institutions, communities, and law enforcement have been responding to incidents related to critique of Israel and support of Palestine, particularly in terms of ensuring racial equity and justice.
