1/Despite a Khartoum court compelling internet/telecom service providers to restore service, the head of the Telecom and Postal services ordered companies not to comply, saying emergency orders from the army leader override judicial decisions.
2/The disruption is a flagrant violation to the right of Sudanese to express their opinions, seek information. It also clearly intended to keep abuses by security forces unexposed to the world. We did see that following the crackdowns in June 2019.

Impunity in #Sudan has for long been the norm.

The last 2 years did little to address that. Instead, abusers especially those who sits high up the command chain wielded more power.

No political process should lead down that path anymore. The military leaders who were part of the TMC in 2019, holds responsibility for abuses occurred on June 3,2019 and days followed.

They were not held accountable.

Now they are again putting the potential of rights-respecting Sudan at grave risk.
