Once a long time ago, I heard a bitcoiner say that the price of bitcoin is not volatile, but rather the price of dollar expressed in bitcoin is volatile. It is the dollar, in other words, that's unstable. <thread> I laughed. First, I thought he was joking. Then I thought he was, well, wrong. To me this incessantly boring fight between two camps that are both quite wrong, shows only one thing - that there is complexity under the rug, and quite a lot of it. Pianos are bought for their utility, which is easily described, you can play them, and they sound good. More people desire this utility - more demand, less people desire it - less demand. Easy.
