Well that 1st GI tweetorial went well - thanks for all the feedback and engagement!

Let's get going with SIBO part II.

Today's focus? DIAGNOSIS! Image 2/

As a quick review, suspect SIBO in patients who endorse post-prandial abdominal gas symptoms (bloating, cramping, distension, flatulence) and diarrhea (typically watery; fatty in more severe cases).

** Also look for the distinctive pattern of low B12 and high folate **

I have learned so much from #MedTwitter. Time to start giving back.

Here we go with my first GI tweetorial.

The colon is full of bacteria.

The small intestine should not be. When bacteria do proliferate in the small intestine (we'll discuss the reasons below), they can wreak a bit of havoc.

Why? Let's identify 3 processes.

We first developed 18 endoscopy teaching competencies that spanned the endoscopy teaching encounter. We further refined this list after interviews with experts in the field.
