The back end of the Tomlin days weren’t great. Steelers fans heard up and down how spoiled they were to be upset over 9-10 wins and a playoff appearance. Today, the team’s ownership showed how spoiled it is. Coach w the least leverage in negotiations, recent failure /1

I am not a financial wizard any more than I am an expert evaluator on the game of football...my guess has always been they have data that supports the idea that 5th round picks give them the worst return for the dollar. They trade these picks often... /1
And they're often for rental types with long upside. Williams is UFA after this season. I can only suspect NYJ is paying most of what he's due the rest of the year. Nine games w/ practices between as a tryout for a new contract? /2

The good news is, #Steelers 2022:
- Likely has a pick *much* higher than 24 each round.
- have 4x cap space PIT will end w/
- offseason will begin without 80% of the strength and exp on the line retiring/being released. Lots of $ and picks to add to rebuild effort started in 21.
To add to this:
- No one agreed w/ me on this in April, but it was a team drafting 24th w/ a roster that deserved 12 overall. That will be level-set now.
- Drafting that low, w/ so little free agent options, they had to fill gaps. Premium dudes usually not available at 24 in R1
