The primary treatment of brain hydatid cysts is surgery and the main goal of the neurosurgical intervention is to excise the cyst without rupture to prevent recurrence and anaphylactic reaction. Postop, albendazole is recommended for 1–3 months.

This isn’t a magic trick… skull flap removed from belly. 🧵
Some surgeons store the skull flap in a freezer (after removal for refractory intracranial hypertension) for few months and then replace it. The freezer is costly, flaps can get lost, and maintaining sterility is key. The abdomen is a good storage place.
