I see lots of people dunking on this but one of the reasons we have a Disability Day of Mourning is because disabled children are frequently murdered by parents and caregivers and society generally sympathizes with them and let’s them get away with it. [Robert Fucking Latimer]

Here in Canada, Robert Fucking Latimer is still routinely asked for his opinions on MAID when he didn’t give Tracy “medical assistance in dying”, he murdered her.

I haven’t answered the poll question as it’s for autistic folx.

But please stop asking kids to “use your words”

I have it written into my son Owen’s IEP - please do not say, “use your talker” If you want a recommendation for what to say instead, honestly it’s less the phrase itself than the approach it stems from.

The vast majority of the time, the reason they aren’t “using their words” is bc they currently can’t: either they don’t know them or can’t access them rn

This, by @shannonrosa feels like it could have been written by me (if I could write as well as she does)

I’ve been contemplating for a while making a video on this topic. So many ppl still don’t know how bad ABA is for autistic ppl, & that has to change

thinkingautismguide.com/2020/10/why-no… I’ve mentioned this before so sorry for repeating myself but it feels so important.

Anti-vaxxers were so prevalent when my twins were diagnosed as autistic. My opposition to the anti-vax folks primed me to accept ABA as an acceptable, “evidence-based” alternative.

I would like to talk a little, if you will bear with me, about power and platforming.

#AutismDoesntEndAtFord #onpoli I am a non-autistic parent of autistic children. I’m a pretty poor, disabled woman who is tired 24/7. But I have tons of privilege - white privilege, educational privilege and in the context of autism policy, parental privilege.
