(1) I believe that ethnocentrism in Iran is real, serious, common and at the same time dangerous.
And the reason is that in the last century, when nation-building had reached its peak in the world, ...
(2) ... Iran still remained like the "corpse of an empire" that lacked a necessary central power and did not start nation-building, while deceiving themselves that "yeah, Iran is a historical nation and does not need nation-building ! ...".

Persia or Iran, Persian or Farsi?
About Reza Shah's gross and historical mistake.

(1) In 1935 the Persian government requested countries with which it had diplomatic relations to call Persia Iran, which is the name of the country in Persian.
(2) This was a grievous error based on a misdirected sense of nationalism. The suggestion for the change is said to have come from the Persian ambassador to Germany, who came under the influence of the Nazis.
