Finlay, in full Carlos Juan Finlay, (born Dec. 3, Juan Carlos Finlay y de Barrés was born in Puerto Príncipe (now Camagüey), Cuba to Scottish-born Dr. Edward (Eduardo) Finlay and French-born Elisa (Isabel) de Barrés.
