As workers across the country demonstrate their collective power to fight for better workplace conditions, I'm reminded of one of the greatest lessons my grandfather, a life-long union member, taught me: Never cross the picket line.

washingtonpost.com/business/2021/… Toward the end of my grandfather's life, I used to help with his grocery shopping. I don't know how your grandparents shop, but my grandfather, who was Italian, turned it into an art form. He used to make multiple stops all over town to make sure he was getting the best deals.

I'm calling on the @USPS Board of Governors to pause the postal fleet contract until @POTUS's nominees are in place and the contract can be properly reviewed. .@POTUS set a goal of electrifying 100% of our nation’s public vehicle fleets w American-made EVs. Postmaster General DeJoy has not only shown no sign of supporting the council, he flouted President Biden’s directive by awarding the contract for 90% internal combustion vehicles.

As chair of the House Appropriations subcommittee that oversees the Capitol Police, I want to offer a few updates on the investigation taking place into Capitol Police and the violent insurrection that took place on Wednesday at our nation’s Capitol.

THREAD 👇 First and foremost, I am very upset and heartbroken over the murder of Officer Sicknick who passed away after an altercation with violent protesters on Weds. It’s become increasingly clear that rank &file members of the Cap Police were lead into an incredibly dangerous situation.

1/ If pro athletes and people close to @RealDonaldTrump can get tested, our students should be able to get tested so they can safely go to school every day. sciencemag.org/news/2020/08/r… 2/ @HouseDemocrats passed the #HeroesAct over 100 days ago. If @SenateGOP had bothered to take it up, it would have deployed a $1 trillion investment in public schools, child care programs, states, and communities.

Tonight we heard the President of the United States threaten to use our nation’s military force against its own citizens. The speech Donald Trump just delivered was dangerous, divisive, and filled with hate and racist undertones. (1/4)
cnn.com/2020/06/01/pol… He never said the names of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, or Breonna Taylor. He never offered his condolences to their families. He never called for an end to state-sanctioned violence against Black and Brown bodies. (2/4)
