Grumpy old man. Former Liberal voter. Not sure if I will ever return. Certainly not under its current leadership. Plays chess and piano, both of them badly.

The best article I have read which explains the current state of play in the Lehrmann trial, or the "Lehrmann show" as the author describes it. It could be a pitch to a production company for a new mini-series.
1/4 But it would be rejected as being too fanciful, no one would believe it. But the Lehrmann Show, like the fictional Truman Show, would be a documentary. However, we can never forget that it began in our centre of democracy, Parliament House.

Morrison may escape penalty as a result of the RC. I don't think that is the point. What we are seeing is that no one, regardless of their position, is above reproach. For the first time in his public life there are people who can compel him to answer questions.

I'm sure he thinks he escaped. He thinks he did well. The sad thing is that findings against him in the final report will mean nothing to him. However, that isn't really important. What he thinks of himself means nothing.

I have spent much of today reading the Virginia Bell report on Morrison's multiple ministries. I may have more to say on it, I'm not sure. But one thing is apparent. She is emphatic that no criticism should be levelled against the Governor General.

She argues her case well and I cannot disagree with it. However, @RonniSalt has previously detailed very carefully the correlations between the actions of the GG and of Morrison, especially in relation to the timing of events.

My 2nd, and last, rant of the day. PM Albanese was right not to criticize the Governor General. Not because the GG is beyond reproach, but because Albo is the PM. However, the GG most definitely deserves criticism.

@RonniSalt has previously tweeted in depth about the GG's involvement in the Future Leaders Program and its, perhaps, tenuous relationship to Morrison's multiple ministries. Hurley is a retired general. An expert in chain of command. Expertise redundant in a GG.

I have held off on this tweet until my anger abated. We all know that Morrison is a congenital liar. He lies when he doesn't need to. He has lied to the public and to parliament. He lied to his colleagues and to his opponents. We grew to expect it from him.

He promised to assist the Bell Inquiry into his multiple ministries. Of course, he lied. But he also showed his cowardice. If ever a man was unfit for office he has demonstrated his incapacity to hold any job. Who could trust him?
