#Bill23 is a bad Bill that will make housing more unaffordable not less, destroy wetlands, takes away renters rights and exacerbates urban sprawl all while lining the pockets of developers.

And for those "housing advocates" that support this Bill, we see right through you. 1/7 Putting the blame squarely on cities for the lack of affordable housing is just plain wrong and a Conservative talking point to strip cities of their independence and download costs onto them just like Mike Harris did in the 90s-00s with transit services and amalgamation. 2/7

Just realized tomorrow is the last meeting of our beloved 2018-2022 city council.

Which also means that its the final council meeting for longtime councillor, Jan Harder and before we listen to tomorrow's praise and accolades I've compiled some of her greatest hits (🧵a thread): Who can forget one of our all-time favourite Jan Harder moments with her iconic line: "I withdraw what you didn't hear me say" when she told fellow councillor Riley Brockington to "shut up" during a hot mic moment at a tense council meeting:

.@WilliamKomer, Director of the "United People of Canada" organization that has popped up in Lowertown has denied any connection to the far-right "Freedom Convoy."

Here is a photo with him and lead organizer of the convoy's "War Room" Janet Seto on Canada Day, in their uniform. @WilliamKomer .@WilliamKomer was also out with Mike Kaprishka (@MUXAC6), owner of Palapa Tours and an ardent supporter of the convoy (see posts below) also wearing the "United People of Canada" uniform.

No surprise to anyone but the denial of connections is quite clearly patently untrue.

Thanks to @RosieBarton for having @ArielTroster and I on and thanks to everyone for their positive support.

We weren't on for too long so there were some points that I missed and I wanted to address here below (a thread 🧵) 1/8 1. The ONLY reason @OttawaPolice acted at all was because thousands of residents stood up and were organizing against the far-right in our city and calling out their complicity with the occupiers.

We proved that WE keep each other safe not police. 2/8

I know a lot of people are angry and frustrated especially those of us who live downtown who are seeing our city torn apart by people who could not care less about the community that lives here but we really have to keep in mind keeping people safe 1/6🧵 It's important to keep in mind that although some of them aren't violent many in the convoy ARE like this man Alex Vriend, a Canadian neo-nazi who is presently there, people like Alex are LOOKING for a confrontation and violence. 2/6

Just came back from a walkthrough with a friend from the #Ottawa truck convoy. About ten minutes into our walk, we were yelled at and physically threatened just for wearing our masks.

The streets are bare and trucks are parked everywhere even in the middle of the road. 1/5 They've overtaken our city and have made life difficult for people who actually live here.

Let's be clear on what this is: this is a right-wing occupation of our city. They have millions of dollars and have said again and again that they're not leaving any time soon. 2/5
