Bharat is the land of in which this Dharma is nurtured in all its aspects. It is the very intrinsic life of the Bharatiyas. It encompasses everything that leads to the Divine. It seeks the eternal reality and is never satisfied with anything temporal. 1 The fundamental Truth about Sanatana Dharma is that there is only One Reality, ekam sat, which manifests in various forms. This Dharma, therefore is not confined to one single path, single form, single book, single institution. It keeps the Divine at the Center of everything. 2

Secret of Great Births

Vasudeva and Devaki prayed intensely to the Divine and aspired that the Divine be born as their child. As a result a little Krishna was born in the dark room of a jail. 1 Subhadra during her pregnancy listened to the secret knowledge of Chakravyuha (the strategic arrangement of warriors to entrap and defeat the enemy). One Abhimanyu was born. 2

1. देवीमाहात्म्यम् devīmāhātmyam- A Mysterious Text
Devīmāhātmyam is given to us by Rishi Markandeya. It’s a part of the Markandeya Purana comprising seven hundred verses. + It is said in the Rudrayamala Tantra that this contains the secret most knowledge about the Divine Mother and it bestows all siddhis - asti guhyatamaṃ devyāḥ māhatmyaṃ sarvasiddhidam. +

Mokshapata - The Original Snakes and Ladder Game.

This game was created by the 13th century saint-poet Gyandev. It was originally called ‘Mokshapata’. Later it became popular in the name of Gyan Chaupar. The other names of this game are: Leelaa, Muktipata or Paramapada. 1 The ladders in the game represented virtues and the snakes indicated vices. The game was played with cowrie shells and dices. In time, the game underwent several modifications, but its meaning remained the same: good deeds take people to heaven and evil to a cycle of re-births. 2

In Ancient Bharat the seers and sages, the leaders of the nation set before them the ideal of fourfold aim of life – purushartha-s: artha, kama, dharma and moksha which correspond roughly to the fourfold needs of the human being: physical, vital, mental and spiritual. अर्थ artha - the physical and economic needs, well-being, progress and prosperity of the material being and life of the individual and the collectivity.

-if words used are difficult to understand (दुरापम् durāpaṃ)

OM - The EKAKSHARA BRAHMAN (एकाक्षर ब्रह्मन् )

Love for Sanskrit (a little known story)

Mr. Horace Hayman Wilson (26 September 1786 – 8 May 1860) an English orientalist, was the chief motivator behind the establishment of Calcutta Sanskrit College by the British Govt. n/1 Mr. H. H. Wilson studied Sanskrit from Pandit Jayagopal Tarkalankar and Pandit Prem Chandra Tarkavageesha whom he had given appointment in the Sanskrit College. n/2

Lord Macaulay (25 October 1800 – 28 December 1859) had a mind to close down the Sanskrit College. n/2

Sanskrit has been made unnecessarily difficult

1. Some ran away from the Sanskrit class when they were introduced the Sandhi rules.

2. Some others did the same when they were forced to memorize the declension table (raamah raamau raamaah etc.). 3. Few others escaped when syntax rules and case-endings were brought before them.

4. And the class was almost empty when taddhita (formation of noun-bases from other noun-bases) rules were introduced.

What does it mean to be a TEACHER

-A teacher has to have the clarity that why he/she has chosen to be teacher.

This leads to the question who is the real adhikarin to approach the Gita. 2/1 To truly study and enter into the spirit of the Gita or of any spiritual text, the seeker or aspirant has to be a real adhikarin. An adhikarin is the one who has developed the necessary qualities within him. Only then he can gain true benefit from the study of the text. 2/2
