@TheJusticeDept We need to have an honest conversation about how we got here. It didn’t have to be this way. Drug warriors fought against harm reduction for DECADES in favor of iron fist approaches which set up all the wrong incentive structures. Prohibition = price support for drug traffickers. @TheJusticeDept Since Nixon declared the War on Drugs in 1971, drug warriors have chosen paths that closed off future options & channeled us into next year’s crisis. They have tactics without strategy & short-term goals without an endgame. They forced a rapid Darwinian evolution of traffickers.

Absolutely massive ammunition dump attack in the middle of tourist season in Russian occupied Crimea.🔥💥💣🧨 The Russian army never mechanized their logistics so ammo is transported in old wooden boxes — no forklifts or pallets. Once unloaded from the train, it becomes extremely laborious to reposition the ammo. It all has to be schlepped by hand. Too bad!

During WWII, the Allies attempted strategic warfare against the Axis (usually by area bombing which killed hundreds of thousands of people because bombers were ridiculously inaccurate). These systemic sanctions against Russian have already achieved what those bombers could not.🧵 For example, the US tried to bomb German ball bearing plants with mixed success and at incredibly high cost. Modern Russia, however, makes advanced weapons, but not the machinery necessary to fabricate those weapons. They even import ball bearings. These sanctions are working.

Did some oligarch get the contract and swapped cheap radios to pocket the difference? Good thread on how scandalously easy it is to eavesdrop on Russian forces.
