Why Quantum Computers can't break Bitcoin? Let’s look at the Math. 🧵
1/ How secure is Bitcoin?
Bitcoin private keys are 256-bit numbers, meaning there are 2²⁵⁶ (~1.16 × 10⁷⁷) possible keys. Don't forget that the atoms in the observable universe are 10⁷⁸ to 10⁸².
2/ How does Bitcoin’s security work?
A private key generates a public key using elliptic curve cryptography (ECC), and that’s then hashed (SHA-256 + RIPEMD-160) to form a Bitcoin address. This is one-way math, meaning no one can reverse it to find your private key.
