Day 4 of the Ken Paxton Texas Senate impeachment trial is underway.

Ryan Vassar, one of Paxton's former deputies who reported him to the FBI, is back on the witness stand.

Paxton's team continues with the cross examination. #txlege Image After 30 minutes of cross examination, Senate recesses for 30 minutes.

The call came after Sen. Borris Miles (D) approached LG Patrick and whispered something in his ear. Patrick patted Miles in the back a few times. Stand by.

"Dear children of the world: it's not supposed to be this way."

I took this photo at one of the memorials days after the shooting a Robb Elementary School in #Uvalde on May 24, 2022.

19 kids and 2 teachers were killed. It's not supposed to and it doesn't have to be this way. Image The families of the 21 have been calling on the #txlege to raise the minimum age to buy the type of gun used by the shooter.

The GOP majority opposes changing the law. The families say this change could help prevent the next mass shooting. kut.org/politics/2023-…

Sen. John Cornyn, Texas’ senior senator, just got on the stage.

Folks here are booing him big time. #txpol Cornyn talks about how “when tragedy strikes, the left's knee jerk reaction is to say we should confiscate guns of law abiding Texas.”

He says he will not support new restrictions for gun owners. Crowd continues to boo. Loud boos.

I'm listening to the new season of Embedded and it's breaking my heart. It's about the shooting at The Capital Gazette newspaper.

I remember when that happened. I was a newspaper reporter in Utah.
npr.org/2021/02/17/968… That day I talked to my mom. She wanted to know what was happening at the newspaper in Annapolis.

I sent her news articles. Eventually I went home, after filing a few stories. And then I cried. I thought: shit, there's people who will kill us for doing our job.
