Today I spent a number of hours with Dave. He is third generation Ngong person. His grandfather was allocated 350 as hectares. His father was allocated 12 hectares.
By age of 13 (he's the first born kid), his polygamous father had sold EVERYTHING. They had no land.
Luckily, the grandmother had set aside 3 acres. Parents separated so Dave and younger brother went to live with grandma. Grandma gave the two brothers 1/4 acre each.
Dave dropped out of high school in form 2. He married at 19.

Some interesting trends to watch in dairy farming-- using Kajiado as an example.
Farmers are disposing their stock. Old cows going to the butcher. In Kiserian slaughterhouse, there are countless dairy heifers, mostly young as farmers can no longer manage.
On the other end, there's deficit in milk supply. The suppliers from Nyandarua can hardly honour milk orders for the fresh milk outlets. The milk market isn't that good (cause watu wa kawaida hawana pesa).
Hay is retailing at KES 300 plus. That's approx KES 30kg.

Some years ago, I was acting as an Exam Officer close to graduation. Here you deal with endless cases of missing marks. This student has missing CAT marks. He says he has the CAT scripts and they're marked. Lecturer says he never did the assignment. I ask him to bring them.
He does but then they are burned in part.Cause the house he lives in caught fire. The fire burned parts of the two scripts but spared the corner where marks are indicated. The DCI in me sniffs the papers and establishes the burns are fresh.

@jnyairo Our Communities in Ngong have collective last expense insurance model. How does it work?
A zone comes together. Any adult aged 25, a couple or single parent joins the Chama at nominal fee, gets a number. The Chama has elected officials. Owns tents, sound system, and implements.
@jnyairo Upon death of a member ( or their dependent), members receive a text with details on "opening and closing the book."
Each member below 80 yrs contribute KES 200 by set date. Failure-KES 500 fine.
If you clock 80 you remain a full member but contributions are waived.

There's a conversation going on pale Facebook. It stems from an interview where Ted Josiah claim to have discovered Kalamashaka and that he's the one who got them to rap in Sheng. #Thread
What is interesting for me is the ensuing conversation that has ropped in the generation that literary was responsible for 'inventing' Kenyan hip-hop.
