I have to say that prosecutor Steve Schleicher, to a lay person watching this, was effective, methodical, and strong while cross examining the defense's first use-of-force witness. On redirect, Eric Nelson asks Brodd if a 17-year-old can pose a threat to officers (in reference to the teenage girls recording the incident).

Brodd says yes and agrees that officers cannot underestimate bystanders based on their age alone.

#DerekChauvinTrial: Chauvin’s attorney mentions WaPo article where a city official said the city was concerned re the timing of announcing the $27 million civil settlement but that Hennepin County Chief District Court Judge Toddrick S. Barnette told the city it could proceed. Trial judge Peter Cahill suggests that is not accurate and that the Judge Barnette had expressed concern about the timing and that the court had no authority to approve this.

“The city is trying to dump their responsibility back in the court where it does not belong."

She becomes the ninth juror to be selected to serve on the jury.

During her questioning, she said she strongly believes that "all lives matter" and that if someone says Black Lives Matter she takes it to mean that other lives don't matter to them. A potential juror just expressed very strongly that he'd be a "horrible candidate" for the #DerekChauvin trial because he's an educator who works with BIPOC faculty and students and says he has heard "incredible testimonies" on the way they've been treated by police.

Week 2 of #DerekChauvinTrial

Chauvin’s attorney Eric Nelson says he is “gravely concerned” that the news of the city’s $27 millions settlement agreement with George Floyd’s family was “highly prejudicial,” had “very suspicious timing” and would taint the jury pool. "The fact that this came in the exact middle of jury selection, it’s perplexing to me," Chauvin's attorney says. He is also critical of the mayor and other city officials for making comments at the settlement press conference on Friday. buzzfeednews.com/article/tasnee…
