1/2 I’m old enough to remember when a senior Channel 4 presenter posted a lie on this very site about being ushered out from a Mosque. There were think pieces about Muslims being misogynistic and was picked up by right wing press and made the news on tv over a number of days. These are the tweets that kicked it off and when I say every media organisation in the land covered it, I mean everyone. Not once did Cathy Newman correct the record when presumably asked for comment on the story.

Army on the street of East London because G4S decided it wasn’t financially viable to fulfil their contract. Two years of austerity and riots the year before 2012 which were triggered in part by the shooting by police of an unarmed Black man. Yes halcyon days for the country. What has the Olympic legacy been for East London? They gave away Olympic stadium for peanuts to West Ham FC. Promised new leisure centres in Newham were delayed as council payers had to foot the bill for servicing a stadium that Londoners had no access to do.

If you’re only Asian to use that as a cudgel to make life as hard as possible for fellow Asians then I would suggest you’re just Asian enough for a Conservative electorate. Also class isn’t being discussed in what Priti and Sajid means for South Asian representation in politics. Loudest South Asian supporters of token representation on twitter are comfortably middle class and for them it’s enough to have a brown face and celebrate it.
