Sciencey bit: Viruses replicate more readily at lower body temperatures. Cold is a risk factor.
AND WASH YOUR HANDS!
In short, at core body temperature:
- Interferons (immune system proteins) work better
- Infected cells die more rapidly, preventing viral replication
- An enzyme that attacks & degrades viral genes is enhanced.
