On the 23rd of May 2023, @Channel4News broadcast its investigation into the Equality and Human Rights Commission @EHRC, which, in our opinion, has been a mouthpiece for the government for a significant time.

THREAD: 1/13 We were the first LGBT+ organisation to offer evidence of all the concerns - and within the past twelve months, we have made three submissions (one 61 pages long) to the United Nations (GANRHI), calling out collusion, conflict of interest and impartiality of Board members.

Lets say it loud and clear.

The @EHRC are a failure as a human rights body, and are unfit under the current leadership to be considered a NHRI.

We have been exposing and calling for the removal of this corrupt board for 2 years - instead the problem has been ignored...

and left to fester.

Its the trans hostile actions of the EHRC that largely led to the failure of the 'Safe to be Me' conference.

They advocated for trans people to be excluded from the CT Ban.

They work hand in hand with anti-trans groups.

The latest Hate Crime figures are out, and they make for utterly shocking, but unsuprising (to us), reading.

As usual, the media are downplaying the extent of the problem, but when you look at historical data the effect is clear.

🧵 1/? The BBC are reporting hate crime against trans people is up by 56%, jumping from 2799 to 4355 incidents in the last year.

Thats not a true picture though. Ive been keeping tabs on the actual situation.

Heres some graphs.

Congratulations @Nancy_M_K !

The @EHRC continues to dig itself deeper into a hole of its own making.

Ive only had a quick run through of these letters, but theres some absolute nonsense and interesting observations in them.

1/ First off, they seem to be hinging their entire arguments on an 'established legal concept of sex' that they made up in the SSS Guidance - that doesnt appear exist in law.

The number of references to 'legal sex' to prop this up is ludicrous,

so much is being achieved by relatively few people, in such a currently hostile environment.

While I have no love for the GICs (which was a shared sentiment, and I dont think the psych from Charing X was particularly happy at the success of the pilots), the NHS overall is

I spent the day at the NHS LGBT+ Health Conference yesterday. It was really interesting, and Ive some info, thoughts and observations to share, so heres a 🧵by Claire as I really dont have time to write an article at the moment.
1/? Context & disclosure - I took part because I sit on the NHS LGBT Sounding Board, and also sat on a panel at the end as part of that. Not that that stops me from being both 1) outspoken and 2) brutally honest.
