The HQ of @NORADCommand and @USNorthernCmd are closely monitoring the Russian submarine that surfaced near Alaska today. We closely track vessels of interest, including foreign military naval vessels, in our area of responsibility. @USNorthernCmd is responsible for the homeland defense of the United States and has a designated area of responsibility that includes North America and its adjacent waters.

The Department of Defense is working with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to support passengers returning to the United States on the Grand Princess cruise ship. (1 of 6) Upon docking, passengers will be medically screened by HHS/CDC at the port and then asymptomatic only passengers will be transferred to federal military installations for COVID-19 testing, and a 14-day quarantine.
