When ppl are falling over their keyboards to protect the QB for what happened with the offense, as if at 18 years in he didn’t have the sway and had to defer to a 1st year OC no matter what.
He wasn’t the biggest problem but this defending of him to the end is baffling. He's a HOF QB. He's got two SB rings. He's made $250 million. He will be incredibly difficult to replace. He seems to have made great strides in his personal life the last 10 years. (Hell, my daughter swam in a meet w/his daughter in Bethel Park on Saturday).

Would be wise not to make any snap judgments about 2021 for the Steelers no matter how today goes (the other 31 teams for that matter).

But the 30K foot view from here is: for a franchise that says SB is only standard of success, are they closer now than 9 months ago?

No. I got into an extended discussion the other day w/someone who said no matter what, the Steelers will always try to win it all every year.
And that is an admirable approach.
It's also not how the NFL is designed in 2021. Most of the time, you have to step back to step forward.

#Steelers get to work tonight & I have some thoughts. Well, OK, I have a thought (singular).
The Packers are taking flack for selecting a kid who probably won't play for 2-3 years. The Steelers have a QB 2 years older, w/1 year less on his deal recovering from arm surgery. (1/?) and the team has said repeatedly that it firmly believes Ben will go back to being Ben. And he has certainly earned the benefit of the doubt. But ... at what point do you have to make a legitimate attempt to find a successor. That's not a dig at Duck or Mason.
