The DC consultant class apparently wants candidates to stop talking about Roe being overturned. They claim voters only care about “pocketbook” & “kitchen table” issues.

As a progressive Dem that’s knocked a lot of doors in a rural/red state...that cannot be more wrong...

🧵 First off I’ve already won an +11 point Trump district here. We won on our values & policies - not running away from our own shadow.

Our MT constitution has the strongest right to privacy in the nation - and that includes the right to an abortion.

Excited to speak to some Missoula voters at tonight’s forum! #mtpol

You can check it out on MCAT here: mcat.org/watch/local-li… Image Also, this new Missoula Public Library still amazes me. We are all so lucky for this public space.

Been hearing a lot about ‘energy independence’ from Republicans since Putin invaded Ukraine.

Who was it that built the energy infrastructure in Russia and gave Putin the money for his war? The same corrupt companies the GOP wants to continue to prop up w/ our taxpayer money. 🧵 President Zelenskyy is 44. His Servant of the People Party's leader is 46. Many of Ukraine's new politicians are in their 30's and 40's.

They were first called into service of their country to root out the corruption plaguing their government & blocking all progress for the ppl.

A really great piece by @StanGreenberg.

“Democrats still have the opportunity to become the one best hope of America’s working families.”

We have to speak out against the status quo of economic inequality & commonplace corruption that’s harming workers.

prospect.org/politics/democ… Our party’s message must call out the corporate & elitist control of government. We have to be the party of the people. Image

Stopped by the place that full-time Californian Ryan Zinke is claiming as his residence so he can run for Congress in Montana...and it’s a hotel.

The king of the grift & most corrupt politician of my lifetime #mtpol #mtnews #mt01 How in the world does someone enter politics with $2 million net worth and leave it with $36 million?

Corruption of course. Zinke made almost $1 million alone this year in consulting fees to the oil, gas, and mining industries.

Wild thing happening in Montana:

MT GOP is refusing to allow retention bonuses to be sent to Montana nurses and instead only wants them sent to out of state recruits.

Why? A blatant attempt to harm union workers & pay to bus in new voters who are anti-vax & anti-mask. MT GOP policies have been consistently harming Montana’s frontline healthcare workers.

From prohibiting hospitals from enacting vaccine requirements to preventing communities to enforce mask usage to using the highway patrol to intimidate hospital’s medical decisions...

My father took his own life recently. A day calling family friends for the campaign and having some of them burst into tears upon hearing my voice has been...really tough. Your condolences are taken to heart - thank you on behalf of my family. It has been a bit since our loss, but not too long. Hold your loved ones close.

We owe a big thanks to @SenatorTester for a transformative investment in our nation’s infrastructure - w/ perhaps no bigger winner than Montana 👏 #mtpol Politics isn’t pretty - but we got there. And now that this bill is passed it deserves to be viewed in it’s own light...

The fact is that this is a big win for the American people.

Idk, Dave...I’ve flipped a Trump +11 district in Western MT before. +7 sounds winnable to me. But I guess I’m a not your traditional Democrat #mtpol Western Montanans have a deep sense of identity. This is my home. These are my neighbors.

And they’re tired of corrupt politicians like Ryan Zinke that fly in from their California homes when the weather’s nice. #mtpol

Couldn’t agree more w/ @ryangrim

“If they (Dems) had passed their reconciliation bill by the summer and spent the campaign talking about everything in it - they’d have had something to run on.

It’s a crazy idea but maybe they might actually want to try it sometime.” I’m a Montana Progressive and Union member running on the crazy idea that our government should serve the interests of Working Families - not corporations and billionaires.

It’s simple...if a policy or bill doesn’t help working Montanans - I won’t support it.

While @GovGianforte made it illegal to require vaccines at hospitals and my neighbors are being loaded into refrigerated trucks, his Dept of Labor begs me and other former healthworkers to re-certify.

I will help my community. But our Gov has got to pull his head out of his ass *@GovGianforte knows exactly what’s he’s doing. He can’t acknowledge that Montanans are dying bc he shares the blame - he pushed the anti-vaxx bills, he denigrated even getting vaccinated at all.

Collapse of government authority, factionalism within regulatory agencies, breakdown of community trust, refusal of one branch of government to recognize another, armed vigilantes, mass infection, and resulting brain drain - there is full-on state failure out here in the West. “Third world” is problematic. “Banana republic” is offensive. This is just state collapse, American-style. The Wyoming govt got press for cutting off svcs to their small towns, but my county is bookended by two places that have it worse: the Flathead and Bitterroot Valleys.

Bolton’s a warmonger responsible for the deaths of thousands of American troops & Iraqis. Like all armchair warriors, he’s a coward who put a book advance ahead of patriotic duty during impeachment. There’s no greater indictment of the *actual* swamp than his continued relevance. I’m sure that’s what Trump meant to say.

Maybe @helenaironline, as the paper of record for a state that gave the world Richard Spencer, could stop printing letters that minimize the Holocaust. #mtpol Bu...bu...but....both sides tho!

Schumer saying Biden can cancel first $50,000 in student debt via executive order. And will do so in first 100 days. This will change so many lives. Also thank you to @ewarren and her crew this is your doing :)

I'm...at a loss - up late bc I have stumbled on an unallocated supply of masks and ventilators. Connecting hospitals and orgs in my state that could use them. But I'm just a state representative - I have no expertise. How is it possible that this isn't being handled by the feds? (Yes I contacted relevant state orgs/groups and they're doing their best). This whole "states are on their own" thing is a disaster. They're bidding against one another/the feds. Trump has completely abdicated authority, but hasn't given to anyone else. He's just...missing.

So this little pupper jumped in my car at the trailhead today. Wouldn’t leave. Anyone I asked (shouted to from a distance) said he had been there alone for hours in the snow. Gotta admit: He smells terrible and he made my day. He’s really young. Skinny too, under all the fur. I’ll be calling around tomorrow to find his family. If this is your little boy let me know in the DMs.
