Everyone trying to find what's wrong with offenses thinking they'll find it in the numbers needs to account for defenses showing one look and changing to others. It's not as simple as "success vs. [look]."

🧵 (from someone who doesn't know anything) Stats vs. two high are going to tell you about plays that finished two high, but are not going to account for plays where two high was shown pre-snap and the defense rotated post-snap (this is why the popular term is "two-high shell" bc they can rotate out of it).

YPRR is not the stat you think it is. Thanks for coming to my TED talk. YPRR is just YPT and targets/route run (TPRR). It's the cool thing now to hate on YPT since YPRR is such a better "efficiency" stat.

I'd argue TPRR is also an efficiency stat, but not in the way we usually refer to efficiency.

But YPRR is just TPRR plus noise.
