1/ Today Google announced a new Popular products unit for search. One of my perennial resolutions is to be more positive. But it's challenging when you look at the mobile results for something like 'running shoes'. The top has shopping ads and then a local pack. 2/ Next we get organic results but they all have a different configuration of images.

1/ Here's a thread with my thoughts, comments and observations from my interview with @methode at last night's @BaySearch event at @stitchfix. 2/ This was actually my first interview and Gary made it very easy. We had a great crowd (perhaps 120) and one person commented that the events are beginning to feel like reunions. That's definitely the type of feeling we'd like to foster.

The details of the lyrics controversy haven't been discussed enough in my view. There's been a lot of press but little analysis and investigation. There's nuance that needs to be teased out. I hope you find this thread informative.
1/ Licensing is an issue that comes up a lot when it comes to lyrics. As it should to ensure that the creators are being compensated. Genius did run afoul of this but came to a licensing agreement in May of 2014. Citation: nytimes.com/2014/05/07/bus…

The response from @LyricFind (lyricfind.com/index.php?id=3…) to the accusation of copying lyrics from Genius is odd in a lot of ways. #seo#lyricsgate
First, lyrics from Genius did wind up in a LyricsBox. That's been proven with the watermark that they used. So whether LyricFind and Google say this isn't the case is immaterial. It's a fact.
