Five Things You Will Be Tested With
A Thread🧵
ʿAbdullah b. ʿUmar (raḍiy Allāhu ʿanhumā) said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out to us and said, “O Muhājīrīn! There are five things you will be tested with; and I seek Allah’s protection that you live to see them:
(1) Immorality will not become so widespread in a nation to such an extent that they commit it openly, except that plague and diseases which were unknown to their ancestors will spread among them;
There is no god worthy of worship except You. You are free from imperfection. Indeed, I have been of the wrongdoers. (21:87)

Our beloved Messenger ﷺ said, “The Qur’ān will meet its companion (i.e. the person of the Qur’ān) on the Day of Judgement when his grave is opened for him, in the form of a pale man. It will say to him, ‘Do you recognise me?’ He will say, ‘I do not recognise you.’ It will say,
‘I am your companion, the Qur’ān, who kept you thirsty on hot days and kept you awake at night. Every merchant profits from his business, and today you will profit from your hard work.’ He will be given ‘dominion’ in his right hand and ‘eternity’ in his left...

Constant Reflection on Allah’s Forbearance
We should reflect on the extent of Allah’s forbearance in our lives; and to all of His creation, especially by reflecting on the Qur’ān. We all recite the Qur’ān, but how often does one āyah lead us to...
deepening our understanding of who Allah is? Qatādah (raḥimahullāh) recited the āyah:
Allah created us to worship Him. To worship Him, we need to know Him.
Qiwām al-Sunnah al-Aṣbahānī (raḥimahullāh) writes, “The first command Allah obligated upon His creation is to know and recognise Him. Once they know Him, they will worship Him...
Allah says, ‘So, know that there is no god worthy of worship except Allah’ (47:19). Thus, the Muslims should know the Names of Allah so they can venerate and glorify Him as He deserves to be venerated and glorified.”

The Prophet ﷺ said, “There are three [qualities] which, if they are found in anyone, shall cause him to experience the sweetness of īmān: that Allah and His Messenger are more beloved to him than everything else; that he loves a person only for Allah’s sake;
and that he hates to return to disbelief after Allah had saved him, just as he would hate being thrown into the fire” (Bukhārī).
The sweetness of īmān refers to feeling joy in doing good deeds and in undergoing difficulties for the sake of Allah...

And to the people of Thamûd We sent their brother Ṣâliḥ. He said, “O my people! Worship Allah—you have no other god except Him. A clear proof has come to you from your Lord: this is Allah’s she-camel as a sign to you...
So leave her to graze (freely) on Allah’s land and do not harm her, or else you will be overcome by a painful punishment. (Qur'an 7:73)

We all want happiness. How we each define this and seek it, however, often differs. For some of us, happiness is wealth and material abundance. For others, it’s fame and renown. For some, it is sensual pleasure and gratification...
And for others, it is a breakthrough in their field of expertise.
Today, despite the unbounded pleasures and excess we are surrounded by, more of us than ever remain unfulfilled. We are unhappy. No matter how much we buy and consume, or how much we’re validated and gratified,

And to the people of ’Âd We sent their brother Hûd. He said, “O my people! Worship Allah—you have no other god except Him. Will you not then fear Him?” (Quran 7:65)
The disbelieving chiefs of his people responded, “We surely see you as a fool, and we certainly think you are a liar.” (Qur'an 7:66)
Hûd replied, “O my people! I am no fool! But I am a messenger from the Lord of all worlds, (Qur'an 7:67)

Duʿa of Prophet Ibrahim (alayhis-salām) & Ismaʿil (alayhis-salām) for Acceptance of Good Deeds
Eid is a day of takbīr. Allah (subḥānahū wa taʿālā) says,
وَلِتُکْمِلُوا الْعِدَّةَ وَلِتُکَبِّرُوا اللّٰهَ عَلٰى مَا هَدٰٮكُمْ وَلَعَلَّکُمْ تَشْكُرُوْنَ
“…He wants you to complete the prescribed period (the month of Ramaḍān) and to glorify Allah for having guided you; so that you may be thankful” (2:185).
Fasting is obligatory upon us only for a limited number of days (29/30 days)...
From His mercy, Allah made this amount manageable and easy for us. Furthermore, He made this short amount of time a source of immense blessings...

Social Media - Time Waster & Addiction
Social media is the biggest thief of our time. Millions of dollars have been spent on designing social media platforms to ensure that we become addicted to them, using psychological and behavioural techniques such as infinite scrolling,
instant gratification, personalised algorithms and constant notifications. These platforms distract us from our goals, hinder us from our social and familial responsibilities, and reduce our ability to focus...
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Do good all the time, and seek to be recipients of the 'outpouring' of Allah's mercy. Indeed, Allah showers down these (special) 'outpourings' of His mercy...
to whomsoever He wills from His slaves." (Tabarāni)
Although Allah constantly showers His mercy, love and blessings upon us throughout the year, there are certain times of the year wherein He is even more Generous to us...

In Paradise, the first two periods (the morning & the evening) will be reserved for the elite of Paradise to see Allah. It is hoped that the one who preserves the two prayers (Fajr & ‘Asr) will be amongst these, more so if one continuously observes the adhkār,
and other forms of worship until sunrise and sunset.
If the servant adds to that, a journey in the last part of the night, then he has journeyed in all three times. And if he is true and sincere in the pursuit of this, it is hoped that he will achieve the greatest objective:
