I'm so excited that we're growing our Design Systems team with designers & engineers. I did a short interview with Juliann Wheeler, our fantastic Design lead to let you know what we've got going on. She's not on Twitter, but you can connect on LinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/juliannwhee… 🧵 Q: Why does Gusto have a Design system?

A: Gusto’s design system is the strategy and tool for empowering designers, engineers and content teams to solve complex customer problems with speed and cohesion, while maintaining accessibility and beautiful UI. A photograph of Juliann Wheeler smiling.

Let me tell you a little store about trying to file an objection on the @Ont_AGCO website. This is a government website and it's meant to give community members a way to object to liquor, pot and gambling businesses opening up in inappropriate locations. This is important because it's one of the mechanisms that gives people in the community a voice about the evolution of their neighborhoods. This kind of civic engagement should be encouraged, but instead the @Ont_AGCO makes it as difficult as possible.

Hey friends! One of the table stakes of good UX is #accessibility. I want to share a personal story about how non-accessible experiences have had an impact on my family and how that’s informed my own UX practice. (Thread) My middle sister is about 5 years younger than me. She was born with physical disabilities (she’s mostly blind and deaf) and cognitive challenges.

I get a lot of requests from people who want help with UX for a product or feature they've built. The intentions are probably good but the requests speak to a few fundamental misunderstandings about UX. UX is about understanding how the needs of your customers converge with the problems your business is uniquely positioned to solve and then seizing on those opportunities.
