Iβm on a renal consults elective and learning some cool stuff! Hereβs a mini #tweetorial 𧡠about something I learned today! What do you think of these labs?? Should we be worried about this patient π±? 1/
Some history: the patient had a hematologic malignancy and was admitted for hypoxemic respiratory failure (intubated), septic shock (on pressors) & renal failure (on CVVHD). So why the discrepancy between the whole blood and serum K?! 2/

THREAD: Really proud of this one...We conducted a post-hoc analysis of ALLHAT - the largest ever RCT of antihypertensive med therapy! - where we examined the association between socioeconomic context, blood pressure control & cardiovascular outcomes 1/ ahajournals.org/doi/10.1161/JAβ¦
We already know that socioeconomic context is associated w/ disparities in HTN & CV outcomes. Lack of access to care is 1 commonly cited reason for this. But do such disparities persist in controlled settings i.e. RCT where all participants are afforded similar access to care? 2/
